The Holker Estate covers some 17,000 acres of rural Cumbria encompassing a major proportion of the Cartmel Peninsula. The Estate has a long tradition of farming through the craftsmanship of tenant farmers who produce cheese, honey, prime heritage beef, seasonal venison and game, as well as the famous Holker Saltmarsh Lamb.
Holker Hall sits at the heart of the Estate amongst 25 acres of gardens, meadows and deer park, and is the much loved home of Lucy Cavendish. The Cavendish family take an active interest in protecting the wildlife in the area and maintaining the conservation of the woodlands and parkland.
Holker Hall is open to the public seasonally along with the award-winning gardens which are home to many rare and exotic plants and trees that thrive in the micro-climate of the area. There is an onsite Food Hall which stocks the Estate's fine produce, along with a Gift Shop, Children's playground and the Courtyard Café, which serves fresh local food and home-made cakes. The Ilex Brasserie was opened in spring 2016 and offers a la carte menu of seasonal, local produce. The Ilex is located in the courtyard area and is open lunchtime Wednesday - Sunday, and evening Friday - Saturday.
Holker Hall and Gardens play host to a number of events throughout the year including local Producers Markets, Plant Fairs, a Chilli Festival and the festive Winter Market!
